Meau

MEAU, the solo project of the Dutch indiepop singer-songwriter and producer Meau Hewitt (22) creates music from her heart with the influence of synths, warm guitar sounds, catchy melody lines and the inspirational source of Eefje de Visser, Jeremy Zucker and Holly Humberstone.

After her first EP ‘Kalmte’, MEAU’s successful single ‘Dat heb jij gedaan’ was released on September 10, 2021, which became a.o. 3FM Megahit, Qmusic Alarmschijf, Radio 2 TopSong and MNM Big Hit (Belgium). After the release of ‘Dat Heb Jij Gedaan’ things went very fast, she was number 1 for several weeks in the Dutch Top 40 and the Flemish UltraTop. She was a guest at Metropole orchestra, The Streamers and many other TV and radio programs. In 2023 MEAU was ‘Ambassadeur van de Vrijheid’ on Bevrijdingsdag. She also plays in many Dutch and Flemish venues during her own, sold-out club tours. On May 9, her debut album ’22’ was released. She will also participate in this years season ‘Beste Zangers’.

Meau has been writing and making music since she was young. When she was a kid, she followed singing and pianoclasses, she participated in the ‘Kinderen voor Kinderen’-choir for 3 years. She did many big performances in the choir of Babette Labeij in the years after, at events like ‘The Passion’, ‘All You Need Is Love’, and several finals of the ‘The Voice of Holland’. After secondary school, Meau participated in the young talent class of the pop department at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. She has been focusing on writing Dutch songs this period, inspired by artists like Eefje de Visser and Spinvis. Nowadays, Meau lives in Utrecht, where she graduated from the pop/rock ‘Herman Brood Academy’. She has been producing more and is searching for the right sound for her music the last few years.
